Family member credits Frost Manor’s open culture to making it the home of choice for her mother
‘I could see right then and there that this is where she needed to be’

Upon seeing the open communication with family members and the dedication to residents at Frost Manor, Margaret Cameron says she immediately knew this was the home where her mother should live.

Cameron’s mother, who has been a resident at the Lindsay long-term care home for nine years, was awaiting a transfer to another home in Bobcaygeon when she initially came to Frost Manor.

However, after experiencing the open communication between family members and staff, coupled with the dedication to residents the team at Frost Manor exhibits, Cameron immediately changed her mind about having her mother live in another home.

“I said, ‘No way,’” she recalls. “I could see right then and there that this is where she needed to be.”

Nine years later Cameron says she has no regrets about her family’s decision.

Cameron, who has become involved with the home’s family council, says when any concern arises at the home, staff members are quick to resolve the issue, which has left families feeling confident about the care their loved one is receiving.

“The families feel that everything gets done quick and efficiently,” says Cameron. “When the family council gets together they talk and they share experiences. I talk to all the families at Frost Manor and I haven’t heard any of them — ever — have a major concern.”

Any time her mother has felt ill or had so much as a tiny cut, the home has called Cameron to keep her informed. This, she says, has had an enormous impact on her positive view of the home.

She says other family members share her applause for the home and its staff members.

“I find that the staff members there are very warm and kind and they are very respectful,” says Cameron, who is also a registered nurse (RN).

“Being an RN I look around the home. I can come in any time of the day or night and I always see the staff being gentle and supportive and just wonderful.”
